Oceanside Pier at Sunset

Oceanside Pier, California

One of my favorite things to do in photography is to create feathered water. I’ve always wanted to create a fog affect under a pier, so a couple weeks ago I headed to the Oceanside pier to take some long exposure photos.

I shot this scene with three different exposures and made my first attempt at creating an HDR photograph. I had hoped to get some clouds in the background, but unfortunately the sky was fairly clear during this particular sunset.

When I shared this photo with a friend of mine, she mentioned that the pillars remind her of elephant feet. What I like most about this photograph is that it looks almost like a watercolor painting.
